CEREC Crowns: Conservative and Durable Porcelain Restorations

So you think you need a crown? Maybe not!

Many patients come to us having been told they need a number of new crowns. While sometimes they do, frequently there is plenty of sound tooth structure remaining which does not need to be cut away. Because porcelain can be bonded (glued) to the tooth like no other material, it has the ability to reinforce the tooth back to its original strength, similar to laminated plywood. And because these restorations are milled from pre-manufactured pressed ceramic blocks, they are stronger than any custom lab process.

Why cut down healthy tooth?

Dr. Dennis Fasbinder at the University of Michigan has shown a CEREC success rate comparable to gold for over 15 years.

Also, because CEREC crowns usually leave more tooth structure above the gum line, and we can see and x-ray through the porcelain, we can catch future problems earlier. Not so with metal crowns.

If you have a broken or damaged tooth and would like to discuss how a CEREC crown could benefit you, please contact us today or request a consultation online. We’ll be happy to make the best recommendation for your individual situation.
